I bought this lovely old car in June this year from the previous (deceased) owner's son - he was formerly Company Secretary of Renault UK and had owned the car since 1998. There is an incredibly comprehensive service history and old MOT certificates going back to when he bought it, and totalling over £12000, including a replacement gearbox, oil cooler, new rear wheelarches (proper metal replacements, not bodged up with filler), and pretty much everything else you can think of has been done when required by a Renault specialist garage.
Detailed spec:
MOT until 02/03/10, taxed until 28/02/10.
2.0 injection engine with around 160000 miles, doesn't smoke or rattle, pulls well. Slight blow from front silencer box, but nothing serious.
Automatic gearbox changes correctly, sport mode working, kickdown works as it should.
All electric interior - mirrors, windows, seats, sunroof etc; excellent Phillips 6-speaker stereo with graphic equaliser and fingetip controls; talking dash warning system and trip computer also fully functional.
Black leather on seats and doortrims in excellent condition.
Original Speedline alloy wheels with Continental tyres all round.
Body generally very good - nice shine to paintwork, couple of small bits of surface rust at bottom of front wings and a scrape mark on the back bumper, otherwise fine. Polishes up well. Driver's side headlamp cracked, but has passed MOT for several years without it being mentioned.
I have had the car recently checked over by a local Renault specialist garage which produced no obvious reason why it will not pass the next MOT and many more to come.
